Lewis acid adducts with carbonyl chloride

Abstract

The donor–acceptor complexes of carbonyl chloride with aluminium chloride, stannic chloride, and antimony pentachloride have been prepared and their infrared spectra examined. In these compounds a lone pair from the oxygen of the carbonyl chloride is donated to the Lewis acid, Cl2CO→MCln.
