Transition-metal complexes of the 1,2-dipyridylethylene isomers. Part II. Cobalt(II), nickel(II), and copper(II) halide derivatives of unsymmetrically substituted isomers

Abstract

The cobalt(II), nickel(II), and copper(II) halogeno-complexes of 1-(2-pyridyl)-2-(3-pyridyl)ethylene and 1-(2-pyridyl)-2-(4-pyridyl)ethylene are described, and the structures interpreted on the basis of magnetic and spectral properties. The cobalt(II) and copper(II) complexes are polymeric, and of the general formula [MX2L]n, but the nickel(II) complexes follow a less ordered pattern.
