Copper(II) complexes of α-hydroxytetrahydropyrimidines
Abstract
The acid dissociation constants of some α-hydroxytetrahydropyrimidinium ions have been measured at 25 ± 0·01° and 0·1 M ionic strength with a glass–calomel electrode system. The reaction of these ions with copper(II) ions results in the formation of strong, uncharged, 2:1 complexes which have been isolated; their stability constants (at 25 ± 0·01° and 0·1 M ionic strength) are reported. Our results are compared with those previously reported for some analogous α-hydroxyamidinium ions, and for 2-amino-1-phenylethanol.
