A method is described for the determination of total silicon content of water based on evaporation, fusion and subsequent absorptiometric measurement of solutions of reduced β-molybdosilicic acid. The standard deviation for this procedure, by using samples of between 20 and 60 ml, was found to be 0·1 µg of silicon as silica.
