Micro-analysis of silicate rocks. Part V. Spectrophotometric determination of alumina

Abstract

Alumina is determined spectrophotometrically as the 8-hydroxy-quinolinate after ligand exchange in the organic phase with aluminium acetylacetonate extracted into benzene from aqueous medium at pH 6 to 7. Interfering elements such as iron, titanium, vanadium and zirconium are removed by extraction into o-dichlorobenzene from M hydrochloric acid, but beryllium is not removed by this procedure.
