The solubility of certain gaseous fluorine compounds in water

Abstract

The solubilities of CF4, SF6, and NF3 in water over the temperature range 0–50° have been determined using an apparatus specially designed for the measurement of these exceptionally low solubilities. From the temperature-dependence of the solubilities, the changes of heat content and entropy on solution are estimated. The results are discussed in the light of various theories of aqueous solutions.
