Interaction of carcinogens and related compounds with nucleic acids—optical and electrical properties
Abstract
The d.c. electrical conduction of solid gels of deoxyribonucleic acid under high vacuum shows a semiconductive behaviour which is sensitive to small amounts of complexed carcinogen. The effect of these compounds on the optical and electrical properties of the nucleic acid provides evidence of an interaction which may be related to carcinogenic activity.
