Interfacial tension of polar mixtures

Abstract

A statistical model is developed to represent the adsorption of a soluble surface active material at an oil/water interface. The lowering of interfacial tension associated with this lattice gas representation is compared with predictions based on a regular solution theory and with experiment. The concentration dependence of film pressures can be predicted if values of the model parameters are appropriately chosen.
