The structure of sorbifolin, a chromone from Spathelia sorbifolia L.

Abstract

Extraction of the roots and stems of Spathelia sorbifolia L. has given a new chromone, sorbifolin. The constitution was elucidated by spectroscopic means and simple chemical transformations and confirmed by an unequivocal synthesis of the tetrahydroanhydro-derivative.
