A new triterpenoid acid from Lenzites trabea

Abstract

The wood-rotting fungus Lenzites trabea is shown to contain trametenolic acid and a new acid, 15α-hydroxy-trametenolic acid, the constitution of which is confirmed by its conversion into methyl trametenolate and by the partial synthesis of the dihydro-ester, methyl 15α-hydroxydihydrotrametenolate, from sulphurenic acid.
