1-Indenylidenetriphenylphosphorane

Abstract

1-Bromoindene may be prepared by dehydrobromination of 1,2-dibromoindane under conditions strongly favouring the E2 mechanism. 1-Indenylidenetriphenylphosphorane is stable, as expected, and couples with diazonium salts to give arylazo-substituted methylenephosphoranes.
