The crystal structure of aluminosiloxanes: X-ray analysis of dibromotrimethylsiloxyaluminium
Abstract
The crystal structure of dibromotrimethylsiloxyaluminium (Me)3SiOAlBr2 has been determined by three-dimensional X-ray methods. The crystals are monoclinic, space-group P21/n with a= 10,206, b= 9·681, c= 10·402 Å, β= 96° 33′. The molecule is dimeric. Dimerisation results in formation of a four-membered ring, in which each siloxy-group forms bonds with two aluminium atoms.
