Metal complexes involving the heavier donor atoms. Part II. Enthalpy and entropy of formation of metallic complexes of semicarbazidediacetic acid and thiosemicarbazidediacetic acid

Abstract

The heats of ionisation of semicarbazide diacetic acid and thiosemicarbazide diacetic acid and the heats of formation of their complexes with a number of dipositive alkaline-earth and transition-metal ions have been measured by calorimetry. This data is combined with that of the ionisation and stability constants to obtain values for the entropy changes. The results are discussed in relation to data for similar ligands.
