The crystal and molecular structure of bis-α-hydroxy-α-phenylbutyramidinecopper(II)
Abstract
The crystal structure of a complex of a copper atom and two molecules of α-hydroxy-α-phenylbutyramidine has been determined by three-dimensional X-ray methods. The crystals are monoclinic, with a= 12·46, b= 8·50, c= 11·47 Å, β= 120·0°. The space group is P21, with two molecules of complex per unit cell, and with two molecules of water of crystallisation per molecule of complex. The crystals were prepared from a racemic amidine but the complex consisted of a copper atom with two (+)- or two (–)-amidine molecules.
