Relation between phenyl-phenyl bond length and interplanar angle in substituted diphenyls

Abstract

A statistical examination of available experimental data gives some weak support for a linear relation between phenyl-phenyl bond length and interplanar angle in substituted diphenyls proposed by Cook. Two theoretical models are proposed. The first does not give the observed relation; within experimental error the second does.
