Solvation spectra. Part 12.—Ultra-violet absorption spectra of iodide in binary solvents mixtures

Abstract

The ultra-violet absorption spectra of various iodides in binary solvent mixtures having one component of low polarity has been studied as a function of solvent composition. The results are interpreted in terms of an excitation involving a modified charge-transfer to the solvent rather than a charge-transfer to the cation.
