Preparation of [2H6]ethane, [2H8]propane, and [2H5]bromoethane

Abstract

The preparation of fully deuterated ethane, propane, and bromoethane is described; the latter two have been obtained by new routes involving the reduction of [2H4]propyne and [2H4]acetaldehyde. Values are given for the densities and viscosities of bromoethane and [2H5]bromoethane.
