Heat of formation of bicyclopropyl

Abstract

The heat of combustion of bicyclopropyl has been measured, and the heat of formation ΔHf°(liq.)=+22·95 ± 0·90 kcal./mole is derived. Bond-energy data are used to investigate possible strain or stabilisation energy in this molecule as compared with that in cyclopropane.
