Potentially tautomeric azines. Part VI. The fine structure of “4,6-dihydroxypyrimidines”

Abstract

The spectra and basicities of “4,6-dihydroxypyrimidine” and its mono- and di-alkyl derivatives show that the parent compound exists in aqueous solution mainly as the mesomeric betaine together with an appreciable contribution of the 6-hydroxypyrimidin-4(3H)-one form.
