Metal–β-diketone complexes. Part II. Carbon-bonded platinum(II) complexes of trifluoroacetylacetone and benzoylacetone

Abstract

The complexes K[Pt(diketone)2X](diketone = trifluoroacetylacetone and benzoylacetone, X = Cl or Br) have been prepared. The n.m.r. spectra of the trifluoroacetylacetone complexes and the infrared spectra of all the compounds indicate the presence of both oxygen- and carbon-bonded β-diketone groups. The factors which influence carbon as opposed to oxygen-bonding of β-diketones to metals are discussed.
