Modulation of metal (oxy)sulfide photocatalysts towards artificial photosynthesis
Abstract
Artificial photosynthesis technology mimics natural photosynthesis with the goal of converting solar energy into chemical energy and promoting environmental sustainability. In this review, recent advances in metal (oxy)sulfide photocatalysts for artificial photosynthesis were summarized. The breakthrough of metal (oxy)sulfide photocatalysts in water decomposition and CO2 reduction has increased their potential in the fields of energy conversion and catalysis. Through an in-depth analysis, the challenges and directions for achieving improvements in the scale-up and commercialization of efficient photocatalysts that can absorb a wide range of the solar spectrum were pointed out, aiming to provide a guidance for future research on their design and optimization.
