Abstract

Correction for ‘Synthesis of anisotropic colloids with concave and convex structures’ by Longfei Luo et al., Soft Matter, 2021, 17, 10696–10702, https://doi.org/10.1039/D1SM01463C.

The authors regret that there was an error in the sentence in lines 41–51 in the left column on page 10697 of the original article. The text originally read: “For the seeds used in the experiments to check the priority of the polymerization reaction on different sites (Section 3.2.2), a premixed solution containing styrene (3.0 g), ethanol (30 mL) and DVB (200 µL) was injected into the flask in a slightly different feeding mode. The premixed solution was injected first at 90.5 µL min−1 for 66 minutes, then the injection was stopped. At 2 h after the first injection started, a second injection with a rate of 400 µL min−1 was started and lasted for 40 minutes before it was stopped. Then at 4 h after the first injection started, a final injection with a rate of 90.5 µL min−1 began and lasted for another 66 minutes.”

This sentence should read: “For the seeds used in the experiments to check the priority of the polymerization reaction on different sites (Section 3.2.2), a premixed solution containing styrene (4.0 g), ethanol (40 mL) and DVB (200 µL) was injected into the flask in a slightly different feeding mode. The premixed solution was injected first at 90.5 µL min−1 for 66 minutes, then the injection was stopped. At 2 h after the first injection started, a second injection with a rate of 400 µL min−1 was started and lasted for 30 minutes before it was stopped. Then at 4 h after the first injection started, a final injection with a rate of 700 µL min−1 began and lasted for another 30 minutes.”

Additionally, in the sentence in lines 10–12 in the right column on page 10697 of the original article, the text originally read: “Next, the mixture was transferred to a three-necked flask and 2.5 wt% AIBN and 0.18 wt% hydroquinone (based on the mass of styrene) were added.”

This sentence should read: “Next, the mixture was transferred to a three-necked flask and 2.5 wt% AIBN and 0.9 wt% hydroquinone (based on the mass of styrene) were added.”

The Royal Society of Chemistry apologises for these errors and any consequent inconvenience to authors and readers.
