Photochemical generation of P(v)–F bonds via BpyCu(CF3)3 in acidic media

Abstract

Phosphinic fluorides are valuable scaffolds in pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and radiochemistry, and the development of efficient synthetic strategies for these compounds has garnered widespread attention. Grushin's reagent, though widely employed as a trifluoromethylation agent, has remained largely unexplored as a practical monofluorine source. Herein, we expand the use of Grushin's reagent as a fluorine source under synergistic acid and light activation for the efficient construction of phosphinic fluorides. This protocol operates under mild conditions, exhibits a broad substrate scope, and offers excellent functional group compatibility. This study reveals a novel application of Grushin's reagent and establishes a general platform for the construction of phosphinic fluorides.
