Total synthesis of (+)-cassiol

Abstract

The total synthesis of cassiol from geraniol was accomplished in nine steps. Yamamoto epoxide rearrangement was used to establish the chiral quaternary center, while ring-closing metathesis was used to construct the cyclohexanone unit present in the molecule.
