Recent advances in electrosynthesis of 2-oxazolines

Abstract

2-Oxazolines are important N- and O-containing five-membered heterocyclic compounds. Compared to traditional methods for synthesizing 2-oxazolines, organic electrochemistry, which utilizes electrons as oxidizing or reducing reagents, has emerged as a versatile and sustainable tool to synthesize 2-oxazolines. In this review, we highlight the most recent developments in electrosynthesis of 2-oxazolines, with particular focus on reaction scope, advantages, limitations, and the mechanistic aspects of these achievements. We hope that this review will inspire chemists to develop more efficient and sustainable methods to access 2-oxazolines.
