A review of research progress and applications of electrospun crimped micro/nanofibers
Abstract
Crimped micro/nanofibers have attracted increasing attention from researchers due to their advantageous properties, such as a porous structure, high elasticity, large specific surface area, and high surface roughness. Electrospinning, as an important means of continuously producing micro/nanofibers, provides an effective route for the preparation of crimped micro/nanofibers. In this paper, the preparation of crimped micro/nanofibers by electrospinning technology is reviewed. Firstly, crimped micro/nanofibers and electrospinning technology are introduced respectively, and advances in the electrospinning process for preparing crimped fibers are summarized, focusing on spinning liquid design, device improvement, process parameter control, and post-treatment techniques. Meanwhile, the multifaceted applications of electrospun crimped micro/nanofibers are introduced, including air filtration, biomedicine, sensors, energy, and thermal insulation. Finally, the review is summarized and the future development trend of electrospun crimped micro/nanofibers is outlined. The review aims to provide theoretical references and technological insights for the field of electrospun crimped micro/nanofibers.
