Mn(ii)-doped zero-dimensional hybrid Cd bromide with efficient green emission
Abstract
Organic–inorganic metal halides (OIMHs) have garnered increasing attention due to their unique structure and outstanding optoelectronic properties. Achieving emissive OIMHs through metal ion doping has emerged as a viable strategy. We report a new zero-dimensional (0D) OIMH, 30%Mn2+:(HEP)CdBr4 (Mn:HEP-Cd, HEP:1-(2-hydroxyethyl)piperazine), which exhibits green emission with a photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) of 62.01%, outperforming previously reported Cd-based OIMHs. The exceptional efficiency arises from the high probability of radiative recombination and minimal nonradiative losses. Also, Mn:HEP-Cd exhibits excellent thermal and air stability, making it a promising candidate for applications in the field of lighting materials.
