Spin dynamics in RuIII-oxalate complexes: synthesis, characterization, and ab initio insights

Abstract

Neutral 1D chains [RuCl2(μ-ox)2Ln(H2O)x(dmf)4]n [Ln = La, x = 1 (2); Ln = Dy, x = 0 (3)] were obtained by self-assembly from LnCl3·nH2O and (PPh4)2(H3O)[RuCl2(ox)2]·4H2O (1·4H2O). Compounds 1 and 2 display field-induced slow magnetic relaxation dominated by Raman processes, whereas no such behavior is observed for the Dy-containing chain.
