Selective Np(v) extraction by an unsymmetrical amide–triazine–pyridine ligand enabling simplified actinide separation
Abstract
The unsymmetrical 2-N-ethyl-N-(tolyl)carboxamide-6-(5,5,8,8-tetramethylcyclohexyl-[1,2,4]triazin-3-yl)-pyridine (Et-Tol-CyMe4-ATP) ligand achieves unprecedented Np(V) extraction (D ≈ 100 in 1 M HNO3) with high selectivity factors over U(VI) and Pu(IV) (SF > 100), enabling simplified actinide separation for the nuclear fuel cycle.
