Abstract

A crystalline/amorphous Pd–Ru heterostructure is developed for alkaline hydrogen oxidation. Pd nanoclusters decorated on amorphous Ru nanosheets induce an electron-rich heterointerface that concurrently optimizes H* and OH* adsorption, enabling a thermodynamically favorable Volmer step.
