CeF3/Co3O4 heterojunction enabled reconstruction regulation for selective and efficient electrocatalytic cleavage of the lignin Cβ–O–4 linkage

Abstract

The efficient cleavage of the Cβ–O–4 linkage is crucial for the high-value utilization of lignin. In this study, we developed a CeF3/Co3O4 heterojunction catalyst. The heterojunction facilitated reconstruction to generate CoOOH, promoting O2 formation. Thus, it enabled efficient Cβ–O–4 cleavage for both lignin model compounds and native poplar lignin.
