Abstract

Direct decarboxylative functionalization of pyridine-2-carboxylic acid N-oxides via an N-trifluoroacetoxy carbene intermediate enables synthesis of diverse 2-substituted pyridines and the first total syntheses of Lucidimine E and australine.
