A catalyst and base-free electrochemical ortho-amination of phenols

Abstract

We report herein the first example of electrochemical ortho-amination of phenols with N-benzoylhydroxylamines. Through a simple undivided cell, a wide range of o-aminophenols can be obtained without any catalyst or base. In addition, the reaction has good functional group tolerance and can be scaled up for production.
