K2S2O8-promoted alkynylation of alkylboronic acids/boronates

Abstract

In this study, we present a novel strategy for the K2S2O8-initiated alkynylation of alkylboronic acids and alkyl boronates. Preliminary mechanistic studies—including radical trapping experiments, radical clock assays, EPR spectroscopy and NMR—support the involvement of alkyl radical intermediates and the activation of alkylboronic acids and boronates proceeds through an aminyl radical transfer (ART) pathway.
