Competitive supramolecular assembly tunes anthracene emission over 165 nm via controlled π-overlap

Abstract

Competition among hydrogen-bonding and B ← N coordination in p-nitrophenylboronic acid/9,10-bis(pyridin-4-ylethynyl)anthracene assemblies yields five crystalline phases, where tunable anthracene π-overlap (0–64.5%) controls solid-state emission (569–734 nm) and defines a direct structure–property relationship.
