Shaking things up: exploiting the potential of mechanochemistry to enhance deracemization of racemic compounds
Abstract
A chiral substance crystallizing as a racemic compound was deracemized using mechanochemistry. The material was engineered as a mixed crystal with a compound crystallizing as a conglomerate. A threefold increase in the yield of deracemization using high-energy milling was observed compared to the conventional solution process due to improved solid-state miscibility.
