Correlation between the electrochromic absorption and the W6+/5+ energetic states in WO3

Abstract

This work employs spectroelectrochemical methods to identify the W6+/5+ redox states responsible for an electrochromic transition from transparent to blue. A correlation between the spectral change and the electron accumulation in the W5+ states has been observed at 0.45 VRHE. These results validate the electrochemical technique for the quantification of electrochromic charge transfer.
