Tuning the oxygen vacancy formation energy of ceria by doping first row transition metals for aerobic oxidation desulfurization
Abstract
VOx/CeMOx catalysts with varying oxygen vacancy formation energy were prepared by doping ceria with 10 first row transition metals. The VOx/CeCrOx catalyst with the lowest oxygen vacancy formation energy achieves the best aerobic oxidation desulfurization performance. The balance of Ce–O and O–M bond strength is found to be the key factor.
