An unprecedented genre of lanthanide-based coordination polymers to widen the scope of CO2 fixation
Abstract
Trivalent lanthanide ions (Ln(III)) in conjunction with various Schiff base ligands have long been used for fixing CO2 into inorganic carbonate. However, the responsible reactive species in this regard remained unknown until now. We reveal herein an unprecedented genre of Ln(III)-based coordination polymers that were found to be the reactive species for the formation of inorganic carbonate and can result in organic orthocarbonate upon capturing CO2.
