Hierarchical CoMoP/NiCoP heterostructure on nickel foam for efficient electrochemical nitrate-to-ammonia conversion at industrial current densities
Abstract
Here we construct a CoMoP/NiCoP hierarchical heterostructure on nickel foam as an integral electrode, achieving a remarkable nitrate-to-ammonia faradaic efficiency of 94.9% at −0.4 V (vs. RHE) and a production rate of 88.6 mg h−1 cm−2. This superior performance could be due to the electron transfer from Mo to Co/Ni through P mediation, resulting in enhanced NH3 electrosynthesis kinetics and selectivity.
