Mesostructured TiO2 with abundant oxygen vacancies for excellent photocatalytic hydrogen production under mild conditions

Abstract

Mesoporous TiO2 with abundant oxygen vacancies was synthesized by using a fluorine-containing ionic liquid as a dual-functional template. Benefiting from its hierarchical porous architecture and oxygen-defect-rich surface, our photocatalyst exhibits exceptional photocatalytic activity for water splitting across a wide temperature range (−10 to 80 °C) while demonstrating exceptional stability.
