Hydrogen atom transfer-assisted dearomative ipso-annulation of N-benzylacrylamides to azaspirocycles
Abstract
Herein, we present a dearomative ipso-annulation of N-benzylacrylamides promoted by iron-catalyzed hydrogen atom transfer (HAT), enabling the assembly of azaspirocyclic structural frameworks. This transformation features mild reaction conditions, high yield of the product and fairly good substrate scope. The synthetic potential of this strategy is further illustrated by the scalability and adaptable downstream conversions to heterocyclic-fused azaspirocycles.
