Abstract
In the paper “Limitations in using the Cu isotopic composition of minerals from ancient copper mines for archaeometric purposes – a case study”, published in 2023 in JAAS, the authors use copper isotope data to show that their application in archaeological research is limited. This short comment points out several aspects that shed doubt on the quality of the presented data. It further shows that the overall contribution of the study to the field is rather limited and very little contextual information of the presented material severely hampers the usability of the data for future research.
