Abstract

Retraction of ‘Honey protects against cisplatin-induced hepatic and renal toxicity through inhibition of NF-κB-mediated COX-2 expression and the oxidative stress dependent BAX/Bcl-2/caspase-3 apoptotic pathway’ by Thikryat Neamatallah et al., Food Funct., 2018, 9, 3743–3754, https://doi.org/10.1039/C8FO00653A.

The Royal Society of Chemistry hereby wholly retracts this Food & Function article due to concerns with the reliability of the data.

The photomicrographs in Fig. 3B showing the kidney immune expression contain a duplication of BAX SYL and BAX TALH. The authors claim the error occurred during preparation of the figure.

The electrophoretic analysis image in Fig. 4A appears to show splice marks, and the raw data provided by the authors does not match the bands in the paper.

Given the significance of these concerns, the Editor has lost confidence that the findings presented in this paper are reliable.

The authors were informed but have not indicated whether they agree with the decision to retract.
