Recent Advances in Five-Coordinate Co (II) Single-Ion Magnets
Abstract
This review summarizes recent advances in five-coordinate Co (II) single-ion magnets (SIMs) with trigonal bipyramidal and square pyramidal geometries, highlighting how these geometries influence magnetic anisotropy and magnetization dynamics. The insights presented in this review provide a strong foundation for the strategic design of ligand environments surrounding the Co(II) center. By understanding the interplay between geometry and electronic structure, researchers can strategically tune the ligand field strength to modulate magnetic anisotropy and thereby exert precise control over the overall magnetic behavior.
