Constructing stable solid electrolyte interfaces and facilitating Li transport via an electrolyte additive for lithium metal batteries

Abstract

Herein, we propose N-methyl-N-(trimethylsilyl) trifluoroacetamide (MSTFA) as an electrolyte additive. MSTFA enters the solvation structure and participates in the formation of a stable SEI/CEI. An electrolyte containing MSTFA makes the Li‖Li cell cycle stably for 400 cycles, while the LiFePO4‖Li cell maintained 93.6% capacity retention after 500 cycles at 5C.
