Size stability of colloidal platinum nanoparticles in a polyol reduction synthesis with different solvents

Abstract

We observed an increase in size and aggregation of colloidal Pt nanoparticles synthesized in a legacy polyol reduction reaction, while similar Pt nanoparticles synthesized in ionic liquid solvents remained a consistent size in the reaction for up to 6 hours.
