Abstract

Retraction of ‘Bio-inspired terpolymers containing dopamine, cations and MPC: a versatile platform to construct a recycle antibacterial and antifouling surface’ by B. L. Wang et al., J. Mater. Chem. B, 2015, 3, 5501–5510, https://doi.org/10.1039/C5TB00597C.

The authors hereby wholly retract this Journal of Materials Chemistry B article due to concerns with the reliability of the data.

There are multiple instances of overlapping panels across this article, ref. 1 and 2.

The green fluorescence microscopy images in Fig. 10a and b, and in Fig. 10d and f are identical. There is partial overlap in the SEM images in Fig. 11b and c.

The SEM image in Fig. 11a is identical to Fig. 5a of ref. 1.

The SEM image in Fig. 11b has partial overlap with Fig. 6a′ in ref. 2. Two different sections of the SEM image in Fig. 11c also have partial overlap with Fig. 6a′ and Fig. 6d′ in ref. 2.

Given the significance of these concerns, the findings presented in this paper are no longer reliable.

The authors were informed about the retraction of the article. H. Chen, B. L Wang, Q. K. Lin and C. H. Shen have agreed to the retraction and requested the below wording. The other authors have not responded.

H. Chen would like to state he only contributed to the outline of the research ideas for the team and organization of the lab facilities, but was not involved in the writing or submission of this paper, and therefore was not aware of the overlapping panels and authorship of the paper.

B. L. Wang would like to state they only contributed to the outline, organisation and writing of the article and were not aware of the text overlap. They agree with this retraction to protect the integrity and accuracy of the scientific record.

Q. K. Lin would like to state that they only contributed to financially support the project related to this article. They did not take part in the organization, writing and submission of the article. They agree with this retraction to protect the integrity and accuracy of the scientific record.

C. H. Shen would like to state that they did not participate in the writing and submission of the article. They agree with this retraction to protect the integrity and accuracy of the scientific record.

Best Regards,

Signed: B. L Wang, C. H. Shen, Q. K. Lin and H. Chen
