Micelle-aided quantitatively controllable light amplification of a water-insoluble pyrene derivative†
Abstract
A water-insoluble pyrene derivative, prone to aggregation-caused quenching, regains fluorescence on micelle incorporation. This research explores micelle charge and length dependency by titrating the dye with cationic, anionic, and neutral micelles, revealing enhanced photoluminescence quantum yield (0.01 to 0.54) beyond the critical micellar concentration with excellent thermal stability.
