Recent advances in the reactions of silacyclobutanes and their applications

Abstract

Silacyclobutanes (SCBs), as a key member of the organosilicon family, have received considerable attention in synthetic chemistry since the silicon–carbon bond can be activated. Followed by ring-opening and ring expansion processes, some important organosilicon compounds can be produced. This review summarizes the growing landscape in the reactions of silacyclobutanes (SCBs) by highlighting fascinating new progress, deconstructing mechanistic underpinnings, and drawing insight from related ring-opening and ring-expanding reactions of silacyclobutanes (SCBs).
